Dance
Brigade is San Francisco's groundbreaking, feminist
social change dance theater and drumming company.
Dance Brigade builds community through the arts
by creating, presenting, producing and teaching
issue-oriented dance theater that explores complex
issues confronting contemporary Americans. The
GRRRL Brigade is Dance Brigade's Junior company
comprised of girls 13 and up. Our goal is to
provide the GRRRL's as well as our audience
with the inspiration, magic and hope that only
feminist, socio-political dance theater can
spark. We then desire that inspiration to take
root in all and manifest as thoughts, words,
actions and movements towards the creation of
a more just and peaceful world.

The Extra Credit
Crew is an all-female, breaking crew centralized
in the San Francisco Bay Area and a part of
Sisterz of the Underground, a prominent collective
of female Hip Hop artists. The ECC are artists
who represent the Hip Hop element to its fullest.
They have featured in The Traditional Rap Tour
in Oakland, Los Angeles Urban Dance Festival,
Great American Music Hall in San Francisco,
and more. Its members are: Jana Jones, Sarah
Smalls, Nurseboogie, Crix, Goldirocks, A-ups,
Macha, Estairia, and Dr. Beantwerp. When ECC
is not performing or competing they teach in
community centers, homeless shelters, libraries,
and youth emancipation enters, empowering girls
and women to strive for success in male dominated
arenas, directing youth toward positive and
artistic achievements, through Hip Hop.
