Move over Margaret Cho. Here's another rising Asian-Americana Comedienne. There are some comedians who make you laugh...and then there are those that make you hurt because their stuff is just that funny.

"Native San Franciscan Ali Wong has been creating a heavy buzz in the local stand-up scene. With her hair in her trademark Chun-Li buns, Wong packs a punch of infectious enthusiasm and a dab of exhibitionism thrown in. Ruminating on everything from Chinese grandmothers on MUNI to white Haight Street men in dreads and why her consumption of fish sauce attracts men, Wong’s unique brand of side-splitting raunchiness, ethnic accents and physical comedy will leave the seats wet." ~ Lisa Wong Macabasco, Asian Week

Amber Tamblyn has been a writer and actress since the age of 9. She was Emmy and Golden Globe nominated for her work in the critically acclaimed "Joan of Arcadia." She was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for her work in the independent film, "Stephanie Daley," for which she received the best actress award at Lacarno Film festival in Berlin. Her work has been published in New York Quarterly Magazine, The New Yorker, San Francisco Chronicle, Writers and Poets, Longshot Press, and the Annual anthology "ONTHEBUS." "Free Stallion" received a Border's Book Choice Award for 2006, and a scathing review from some guy on amazon.com saying, "as a writer I can assure that Ms. Tamblyn is a fine sitcom actress." She appreciates both.

"Free Stallion" is currently being translated into Italian and Iranian. Her work has appeared internationally in the 37th addition of Le Voci Della Luna, Manifesto and POESY. In Iran, her work appears in The Red Grounds Publisher. Amber has performed with Matador master Derrick Brown, Mindy Netiffee, Jack Hirschman, Wanda Coleman, Jeffrey McDaniel, Rachel Kann, Beau Sia, Lawrence Ferlinghetti and Michael McClure. Her research interests include teaching, race, and urban education. Micia lectures and leads workshops on diversity and equity in education nation-wide. She is the co-author of the article “The Discipline gap: Teachers’ views on the overrepresentation of African American students in the discipline system.” In 2006 Micia’s chapter “Changing Teacher Practice and Student Outcomes” was published in the book Unfinished Business.
